MATERIAL: 100% COTTON
This is an original fabric woven on old-style looms at a historic mill in the Bishu region.
It is an ultra-high-density cotton gabardine made from 20/1 SUPER ZERO yarn for both warp and weft. Despite being an ultra-high-density weave, the use of SUPER ZERO yarn results in a finished fabric where the twist has been removed, so the threads are almost untwisted.
Therefore, compared to other high-density fabrics on the market, this fabric remains soft despite its high density. While retaining the crispness characteristic of high-density weaves, it is soft, contains more air, and is light and voluminous.
Additionally, its texture has a dry, vintage-like finish. This is a byproduct of the degreasing process, which occurs when the yarn is hot-water-treated for an extended period during the untwisting process.
With each wear and wash, the untwisted yarn unravels further, allowing you to enjoy a vintage-like aging process.
What is SUPER ZERO yarn? Cotton yarn twisted to the left is combined with water-soluble yarn, and then twisted strongly in the opposite direction. After weaving, when subjected to hot water treatment, only the water-soluble yarn dissolves.
The cotton yarn, reacting to the dissolution of the water-soluble yarn, attempts to return to its original direction and expands significantly. Air enters the spaces created by the opened cotton yarn, resulting in a yarn with a lasting fluffy texture and excellent water absorbency.
